The Vaulted Straw bale (new Vault page)
Geoff Clark, Pamela and I ventured to Lama to study there vaulted straw bale design july 4th 2004, the next day we started this project
with what I hope is a much improved design, we started with a cinder block and earth bag foundation then apply the skeletal frame work.

Straw bales are stacked between frame and pined with bamboo from the side and down from to adding tons of strength. here where spraying earthen plaster

For vaulted straw bale construction this stucco sprayer is a great tool. It is much easier to spray stucco than applying stucco by hand.
We have used it for building our cabin and also many other projects including privacy walls.
This hopper sprayer can apply natural lime plaster, traditional stucco and a wide range of alternative mixes including clay, earth and papercrete.
All of this while saving time and money especially when compared to using a stucco pump.
cost with a good gas powered compresser is about $1000
and you save about 2 out of 3 hours over normal application.

mostly finished we just finished the roof and a flagstone floor and a front pourch....,
I guess if you had all your materials on hand this could be finished in about 2 weeks at most any size,
this Vault is 16x20, the next one is planned at 20 x 30 with a second floor.(see above rough plans.)
